Cheers!

January 1st (I know its the 4th) is always one of the most exciting days of the year for me (once I wear off the night before).  I love the start of the new year because it is one of those man made moments where you feel like anything might be possible...this year.  The fact that it is just another day, the sun still rises in the east and the earth continues to spin, seems to have no bearing on the emotional contribution new years day continues to provide me every year.

Another benefit to the start of the new year is all of the "year in review" shows, magazine articles and conversations you get to have (not to mention the same stupid joke every year "see you next year!" or "wow, I haven't seen you since last year!").  Some of my favorite write-ups and ads are the "best tools of the last year" articles and "what new tools to expect for this year" release notices.  Hopefully, at the end of this year I'll be able to do something similar.

If you haven't had a chance to scour the interweb in its eternal infinity for year in review articles I'll save you the time, here are some of the better lists I have come across.

Additionally, they are already planning for the Woodworking In America Conference for 2011.  I may have to accidentally get lost and disappear for a weekend to attend this, I promised myself I wouldn't miss it this year.
This isn't updated for 2012 yet, but it is the location for all things WIA:

Also, If you are in the Baltimore area the weekend of January 6-8, 2012 don't miss The Woodworking Shows Convention it looks like an awesome time!

So, with another year behind us, I am looking forward to 2012 and all the new tools and designs yet to be released!
